1910 : February 22nd

At a Parish Meeting held in the Old School the following were chosen to serve as Constables:
Charles Teather, Edwin Hackney, David Moore, John Bagnall(?), Charles Taylor, Fred Cabourne.
The Annual Parish Meeting was fixed for Saturday March 19th.

Annual Parish Meeting.
E.W. Cracroft was re-elected chairman, and Mr ???? Neave and Mr Thomas Lynn Overseers.
The Constables’ accounts showed a balance in hand of 13” 61/2 ; and he was authorised to levy a 1/2d rate for the coming year.
The lanes? Let for £2.12.6.
A letter was read from ?? Lincoln postmaster asking whether there would be any objection to the suspension of telegraph business at the Hackthorn Post Office after noon on Bank Holidays, so the the Sub-Postmaster may be able to take a half-holiday on those days, any telegraph business being transacted from Wlton. This arrangement was agreed to un-animously.
The meeting also agreed to the proposal …..

 

 

…. that Hackthorn Post Office should close at seven p.m. instead of at eight as hitherto, on the understanding that urgent telegrams be received or despatched up to eight o’clock.

Nov. 28: 1910

A parish meeting was held in response to a letter from the Postmaster of Lincoln asking if there would be any objection to the Hackthorn Post Office being closed at one o’clock on Tuesday so that the Sub Post Master may have a weekly half holiday. No objection was raised,
